Concernant la Mountain Bike World Cup 2004 d’Houffalize, notre équipe qui a organisé les événements de 1990 à 2002 tient à vous informer qu’elle n’est plus du tout impliquée dans l’organisation de l’événement 2004.

En effet, après 13 ans de collaboration positive, les autorités d’Houffalize ont décidé de s’approprier l’événement et de se passer de notre équipe d’organisation : staff d’Houffalize et André Gérard – Maverick -. Cette équipe a fait évoluer l’événement Mountain Bike World Cup  d’Houffalize pendant 13 ans pour atteindre le succès que vous connaissez ; équipe qui, faut-il le rappeler, a obtenu le trophée UCI de la meilleure organisation cross-country Mountain Bike World Cup à 3 reprises (sur 4 années d’existence de ce trophée).

Ceux qui vont organiser l’édition 2004 n’étaient que très peu impliqués dans la réussite des événements des années précédentes et ils ne peuvent, en aucun cas, revendiquer la paternité de tous ces succès obtenus par notre équipe.

Par contre, par leur décision de nous éjecter, ils récupèrent, sans vergogne, un produit haut de gamme, fruit de 13 ans de travail, de 13 ans d’investissements, de 13 ans d’expérience !

La raison :

• L’officielle est que les budgets avec lesquels nous voulions travailler étaient trop élevés.
   
• La réelle, c’est qu’il y avait une volonté délibérée du Bourgmestre de nous reprendre l’événement. Et, comme par hasard, les budgets ne posent plus problème puisqu’un arrangement politique a permis de trouver les budgets après lesquels nous courrions les années précédentes. Les élections ne sont pas loin !

Brève historique :

En 2003, les autorités d’Houffalize souhaitent une nouvelle collaboration avec nous pour lancer et organiser l’événement MTB World Cup 2004.

Nous posons candidature à l’UCI pour Houffalize. Candidature acceptée.

Lors des premières réunions, le Bourgmestre annonce qu’il peut aider à trouver des budgets mais, en contrepartie, nous devons fournir des informations sur : « comment arrivez-vous à organiser un tel événement avec succès ? ».

De réunions en réunions, nous avons fourni des informations de plus en plus importantes en toute confiance. Une fois qu’il a jugé qu’il en savait assez, le Bourgmestre a tout simplement annoncé, via la presse, qu’il organiserait la Mountain Bike World Cup lui-même. La raison officielle, comme présenté plus haut : nous voulions travailler avec des budgets (trop élevés à son goût) en rapport avec la qualité développée les années précédentes ; lui souhaitait revoir tout à la baisse et, de toute façon, il avait décidé de nous écarter puisque des contacts étaient déjà pris avec d’autres personnes. Par contre, les éléments qui lui permettaient de récupérer un événement « clé sur porte » il les a bien gardés sans aucun merci, sans aucun dédommagement.

Quoiqu’il arrive fin mai à Houffalize pendant cette Mountain Bike World Cup, sachez que nous sommes toujours avec vous, en pensée, et que nous vous souhaitons de vivre de bons moments sportifs.

About the Mountain Bike World Cup 2004 at Houffalize, our team who organized the events from 1990 to 2002 want to let you know that the members of that team are not any more involved in the organization of the event 2004.

Indeed, after 13 years of positive collaboration, the authorities of Houffalize decided to appropriate our event and to eject our organization team = staff of Houffalize and André GERARD – Maverick -. This team gave a positive evolution to the Mountain Bike World Cup at Houffalize during 13 years to reach the success you know ; our team received the award of the best cross-country Mountain Bike World Cup organization 3 times (on 4 years of existence of that award).

Those who will organize the 2004 event where hardly not involved in the success we had last years and they can absolutely not claim the paternity of all the successes we had.

On the other hand, with their decision to eject us, they pick up, shamelessly, a very high level event which was the result of 13 years work, 13 years investments, 13 years experience !

The reason :

• The official is that the budgets with which we wanted to work were to high.
   
• The real : the Mayor had a deliberate will to pick up our event. And now, oh surprise, the budgets are not any more a problem because a political arrangement gives the solution to find the budgets we have been trying to find for years ! Elections are in a few days in Belgium … !!!

Short  :

In 2003, the authorities of Houffalize wished a new collaboration with us to prepare and organize the 2004 MTB World Cup event.

We bid for Houffalize to UCI and it is accepted for the calendar 2004.

During the firsts meetings, The Mayor announce that he can help to find budgets but, in return, we have to give information about : “How do you realise the management of this successful event ?”.

From meetings to meetings, we gave more and more important information with trust. But once the Mayor thought he had enough information, he simply announced by press that he would organize the Mountain Bike World Cup himself. The official reason, as said before : our team wanted to work with too high budgets ; but in reality he had decided to eject us because contacts had already been taken with other people. On the other hand, he kept all our important information which give him the possibility to receive a big event “key on the door” ; and this without a thanks, without indemnity.
